Bingo Online or at Local Casinos – Comparison
Bingo halls have schedules, just like you. These are going to clash. You may not necessarily be able to get there before the gaming starts. Playing online gets rid of that problem. Games are available 24/7 and the action only ends when you log off. Instead of having to go out to a bingo hall, you can play bingo at home or on the go.
Don’t worry about missing out on the social aspect. Online bingo typically offers chat rooms where you can communicate with your fellow players. You can make friends with regulars and put a group together, just like you would at a land based bingo hall.
Online casinos love handing bonuses out, and they make no exception for online bingo. They’ll typically welcome you with an attractive bonus when you sign up. These match bonuses amount to free cash that you can bet with and multiply. Some casinos also offer free play days when you can win real money, without putting any down.
How to Play Bingo?
One of the characteristics that makes it such a popular game, is that it is a game of luck. Skill plays hardly any role. This makes it easy for new players to get into the game and get addicted to its social atmosphere and playstyle. Just because it’s easy, though, doesn’t mean there aren’t rules to remember. Knowing these, and the types of bingo available, will make it even more fun.
Rules
Bingo rules and rewards differ from place to place. A player should always consult the rules of the specific platform they are using before betting money.
Typically, players play on numbered cards with a five by five grid corresponding to the word BINGO. In American Bingo, 75 possible numbers can be drawn. The caller may, for instance, draw I-74, B-12, G- 23 and so on. When a player completes a bingo pattern on one of their cards, such as a line of five numbers, that player takes first place.
Traditional bingo cards have 25 spaces on them, of which one is blank and 24 numbered. Since 24 numbers can be arranged in many combinations, there is an equally vast number of possible cards a player may receive. When a number is called, the players with that number mark it on their cards. If your marked numbers form the winning pattern first, you shout out ‘bingo.’
If all the numbers called appear on a card, this is referred to as a full house. It’s the equivalent to winning the jackpot! A full house is, understandably, the most desirable outcome of a game, as it is the one that offers the best prizes.
Terms
- The caller: in land based bingo, the caller operates a random number generator. This person then calls out the number provided by the generator. When you play online bingo, this is an automatic feature.
- Tickets / cards: Each player gets a number of these to check off numbers as called by the caller.
- Daubing: Marking of a number on the player’s ticket when it matches the number called. When you play bingo online, this happens automatically.
- Progressive jackpot games: In these games, the prize value grows as more players join the game.
- Strip: One of the varieties of land-based bingo is played with 90 balls in the number generator. Players then receive six cards on one strip of paper. In online bingo, this is the typical format of the game.
- Bingo Game Patterns: Daubing one straight line of numbers is not the only way to win at bingo. A caller may announce a pattern to be played. This may be a T-shape, a Z, a cross, corners, or pretty much any pattern you can imagine on a card. Every game will provide clear information on the winning patterns that will be awarded.
- Winning a bingo: This happens when you can form a pattern on your ticket made up of the numbers called.
Types of Bingo Games
The basic rules of bingo apply to all versions of the game, but some operate differently from the norm. The number of balls in play will have an impact on the odds.
75 Ball Bingo
Cards have a 5 x 5 numbered grid, but with the centre block blank. Prizes can be won on 1 to 5 lines. A player with all their numbers called first in a diagonal, vertical, or horizontal line wins the 1 line prize.
90 Ball Bingo
Cards are made up of 9 columns and 3 rows. Each column has 4 empty squares and 5 random numbers. Players can win a 1 line, 2 line or full house prize. This is considered to be the most straightforward variety of bingo to learn quickly and great for players new to the world of bingo.
80 Ball Bingo
Cards have 16 numbers on a 4 x4 grid. Each player gets five cards to play on. Wins are achieved with 1, 2, or 3 column matches or a full house.
30 Ball Bingo
Cards have a 3 x 3 layout, each with 9 numbers. Numbers are limited, so fewer can be called, which makes it a quick game with elevated excitement levels.
5 Line Bingo
Cards have a 5 x 5 layout, with 25 numbers each. This is a variation on 75 ball bingo, with wins coming with 1, 2, 3, or 4 lines or a full house of 5 lines.
Flash Five Bingo
This version uses playing cards instead of numbered cards. Hands of five cards are purchased at the start of the game. The caller calls cards drawn randomly. The aim is to match all five cards to the called out numbers. Players can buy more hands as the game progresses. The first player to match the five cards is the winner.
Online bingo sites are a few clicks away. The rules are simple and the bets are low, so you can ease into it at any pace and any price you choose.
